yuting.trip to little india.

On 26june which is on tue, i went to do the math project on my own.
I went to Little India.
At first melissa say she want to accompany me to little india.
But in the end she went home and did not accompany me to Little India.

I went there by mass transit train(MRT).
When i reach Little India, i was very blur and do not know where to go.
So i send message to gayethri by handphone to ask her usually where she will go when she need to buy indian snack and ethnic costume before deepavali.
And she reply me that she will go Tekka mall so i went there.
Luckily near the mrt station there are map so i know my way to Tekka mall.

When i reach Tekka mall, i count the number of indian snack shop and the number of indian ethnic costume shop.
Then i saw Tekka centre was opposite the Tekka mall, so i went there to take a look.
When i went to the second floor, i saw lots of shops selling indian ethnic costume.
So i walk every inch of the place to count the number of shops selling indian ethnic costume.
I took big effort just to count because there was too many shops.
But in end i still manage to finish the project.
When i need to ask the owner of the shops some question, i wait until there was no customer so i will not affect their work.
After i done completed the trip research, i was so happy because i finally can go home already. And i walk until my leg very tiring.

Hari Raya Puasa is a very important occasion that is celebrated by Muslims all over the world. It is also known as the festival that marks the end of one month of fasting.
The words ‘Hari Raya’ mean 'day of celebration.'

Ramadan is the name of the one-month fasting period when Muslims fast for a period of almost 12 hours.
They fast from dawn till sunset.
It is a known fact that during the period of fasting, apart from eating and drinking Muslims are also forbidden from smoking and having sexual relations.
Only the sick are excused from fasting during this month.
Muslims are expected to avoid lying, breaking promise or cheating during the month of Ramadan.
The primary purpose of fasting during Ramadan is to remind all Muslims of self-control and submitting to Allah, the holy one.
Even young kids are taught to fast when they are young.

Geylang Serai, the place that is known for the Muslims to gather, is always filled with large crowds during Ramadan.
Bazaars would be set up and they would be selling numerous festive items for Muslims.

At night the place is lit up with glittering lights.
There would also be a wide variety of food which would be sold at the fairs and they include kuehs, otah-otah, cakes, buns, breads, curry and even curry puffs.
Most of the Muslims shop here to get the food to bring home to eat when they are breaking the fast.
The time when the Muslims break the fast is usually around 7:15pm.

During the fasting period of Ramadan, women start to sew beautiful curtains and buy new clothes for the family.
After fulfilling their one-month of fasting, the Muslims would be joyful to celebrate Hari Raya Puasa.
On the morning of the festival, the Muslims would wear their new clothes and go to the mosque to pray.
They offer their thanks to God and after that they would ask for forgiveness from their elders.
This is an important custom followed by the Muslims.

On the day, they also visit their relatives and friends to celebrate the happy occasion.
If you visit Muslims' homes on Hari Raya Puasa you can expect to taste a wide variety of delicious spicy dishes.

about.deepavali.

Deepavali is the festival of Light.
This is the great festival honouring Mother Lakshmi (goddess of wealth).
This festival usually falls around late October and November.
One important practice that the Hindus follow during the festival
is to light oil lamps in their homes on Deepavali morning.
By lighting the oil lamps,
the Hindus are thanking the gods for the happiness,
knowledge, peace and wealth that they have received.
The Hindus consider Deepavali as one of the most important festivals to celebrate.

The Hindus will wake up early in the morning of deepavali to take an oil bath.
Hindus will be dressed in their new clothes on Deepavali.
The ladies would be clad in silk saris or Punjabi suits of various bright shades.
Hindus dislike dressing in black on that day, as they consider black an inauspicious color for the festival.
Hindus would also pay their respects to the elderly and most families would go to the temple.
They go to the temples to pray to get happiness and prosperity on Deepavali.
The houses would be decorated with oil lamps and children will play with firecrackers to celebrate the festival.
On the first day, they would not go visiting but would stay at home to welcome the guests who visit them.

In every home there are bound to be a tempting spread of sweets.
Some of the popular sweets are halwa, burfi and laddu.
Hindus love eating spicy food and for non-vegetarians they indulge in favorites like chicken tandoori, prawn sambal and fish head curry.
In homes of Hindus who are vegetarians popular dishes like thosais, idlis and naans are prepared.
